Young Women’s Project Worker, St Mary’s, northwest London
£21,670 inc. LW (JNC Level 2 or equivalent required)
St Mary’s is a diverse, vibrant Christian community in northwest London. In the past 18 months, we have been working with young women in Camden as part of our Social Inclusion Programme. We want to appoint a passionate and creative professional youthworker to more fully establish and develop our Young Women’s Project.

Our vision for the Project is:

  • to see young women grow in confidence and embrace themselves for who they are
  • that young women would know they are loved and valued, which would enable them to love and value others
  • that young women would recognise that imperfections serve to highlight beauty and that there is no such thing as ‘the perfect body, hair, face or figure’
  • that young women would feel able to dream dreams, receiving the support, advice and encouragement that they require to realise them

In leading this work, your responsibilities will include mainly face-to-face work, as well as partnering other agencies, managing volunteers, securing funding, working as part of the Social Inclusion Programme and developing the Project imaginatively and innovatively.

Above all, you will be passionate about working with and for young women in a holistic way, dedicated to improving our quality of work. You will be encouraged to have new ideas and put them into action. A dedicated management committee, youthwork team and volunteers will support you.

For further information or an application pack call Paul Perkins on 020 7722 3238 or e-mail sip@stmaryscentre.org.uk. The closing date for applications is 19th August 2008. Interviews will be held on 27th August.

There is a genuine occupational requirement for the postholder to be female; Sex Discrimination Act exemption section s.7(2)(e) applied. St Mary’s aims to be an equal opportunities employer.
